Happy World Kitchen Garden Day!

Kitchen Gardens International (the organization behind the campaign to get a kitchen garden on the white house grounds) has deemed today "World Kitchen Garden Day".  According to their site, Kitchen Garden Day is a response to the International Snack Food Association's snack food month...if that organization can spend tons of cash to promote their products, "the kitchen gardeners of the world should be able to at least have a day to celebrate theirs".  Thumbs up to this idea!

If you haven't already, you should check out the kitchen gardeners international site.  It is filled with lots of gardening tips and is a great way to connect with kitchen gardeners from all over the world.  Better yet - become a member.  I did earlier this year.

In recognition of this day, i bring to you some video about two high profile kitchen gardens.

The first, from "The Royal Channel" on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRoyalChannel ), is a clip about the kitchen garden at Buckingham Palace.  According to the video, dated 2009, it is the first time since the 2nd World War, that they have grown vegetables on the grounds of the palace.

The second video, is from the White House channel ( http://www.youtube.com/user/whitehouse ), about the kitchen garden started last year on the grounds of the White House, thanks in part to inspiration form the International Kitchen Gardeners "Eat the View" Campaign:
